What does the published research say about the berry's stability?
The 2024 review in Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine notes that sea buckthorn's bioactive compounds, including its vitamin C and carotenoid content, are sensitive to oxidation and processing conditions, which is part of the rationale in the literature for cold handling and minimal processing (PMC11527678). This review compiles findings across studies and does not test any single brand's shelf-stability method; it did not establish a specific shelf life for a packaged whole-fruit puree, and that number depends on the individual product's processing and packaging, not on the berry's chemistry alone.
Frigolet and Gutierrez-Aguilar's 2017 review in Advances in Nutrition discusses palmitoleic acid broadly, including how fats like it are handled in food science generally (PMC5227969). This review is not specific to sea buckthorn pulp oil or to any packaged puree, and it did not test storage conditions for a whole-berry product, so it should not be read as a shelf-life reference for this berry.
