Facial Stretches

From Jade Dobbins, athlete and movement coach.

We stretch the body and forget the face, then wonder why the jaw is tight by evening. This is a five-minute routine. Do it in the evening, before the walk or after.

Before you start

Clean hands, no products on the skin, a mirror if you like. Every move is slow and light; you are guiding tissue, not pushing it.

1. The jaw

Fingertips at the hinge of the jaw, just in front of the ears. Small slow circles for thirty seconds. Open and close the mouth gently three times.

2. The temples

Flat fingers on the temples. Press lightly and draw slow circles for thirty seconds. Close your eyes.

3. Brow and forehead

Fingertips at the centre of the brow, sweep out to the temples. Ten slow sweeps.

4. Under the cheekbone

Fingertips under the cheekbones, sweep from the nose out to the ears. Ten sweeps, lighter than you think.

5. Neck and release

Flat hands from the jaw down the sides of the neck to the collarbones. Ten sweeps. Then six slow breaths with the shoulders dropped.

How this fits the program

The full program has this routine on video with the sketches in the PDF guide, plus the longer evening sequence. $99, once.
